The blog documenting my attempt to make a million dollars.

IT’s ALIVE – Thoughts on adsense.

February 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Just a recap of what’s going on. This blog is (for now) not a monetized blog. It is essentially a record of the success (or failure) of the OTHER blog I’m running.  If I’m able to build up significant readership for THIS blog, I will monetize it eventually. I won’t link to my other blog because I doubt the readership will overlap.

On with the content.

My quest has begun. I’ve registered a domain name and hosting, loaded up WordPress, and my brand new blog is pretty much alive. I’ve put up adsense onto my site, as it’s pretty much the the simplest revenue stream to put on a website. (It requires the least steps and is probably the least technical).

I’m wondering if Adsense can really be a good revenue stream -  I know when I read blogs, or go on websites, I never click on any ads, other than by mistake. What sort of critical mass would I need to be looking at in order for Adsense to really generate some sort of significant income?

I feel like only the most popular blogs can make a significant amount of revenue from Adsense.  I’ll be looking into other monetization possibilities.

I’ve also set up an RSS feed (although I don’t use RSS myself). I’ll probably put an RSS feed on here too in the near future.

I’ll be super excited when I get my first dollar from Adsense.
